Why Grammar Matters
I found this intriguing sentence while browsing around on the Web site for a well-known university:
The English Faculty at [XX] and the Graduate School are the largest in the United Kingdom.
Hmmm. I guess the English Faculty ought to lay off the bangers and mash...

Why don't any of my comments show up? I wanted to offer an interpretation that would clear XX of grammatical sins (although perhaps not iniquities of opaqueness). But perhaps XX would scorn any favours from the Wild North anyway...

ever since i switched to beta blogger (google's new blogger system) i've been having some issues. however, i see your comment here, so maybe it just takes a little extra time than it used to. i'm all ears for the explanation. :)
