Thought of the Day
I'm back from the Rose Bowl, where a revolutionary idea occurred to me:
Maybe I should take up swimming.
Maybe I should take up swimming.

Swimming does exercise all of your muscles rather equally, but then again, you're not swimming to the top of Kauai...
Still, might be worth a try!

well, i was thinking more along the lines of how less likely i'd be to get blisters and cuts on my toes... not to mention dealing with dumb adhesive bandages that refuse to adhere, and slightly pulling a hamstring.
er, not that any of the above happened to me today, of course.

Ah, but with swimming you DO get really dry skin, cuts on the bottom of your toes, and chlorine hair. And you could drown! How likely are you to drown while hiking?! Bonus points for hiking right there...

aha, good point becca... except... how likely are you to sprain your ankle and/or fall off a cliff while swimming???

Depends on if you're swimming in the shallow end or the deep end. ;) Some pools have more drastic cliffs than your average mountain!
But yes, less ankle-sprainy I suppose. But what about the vistas? No vistas in a pool generally speaking. And the accomplishment, how much more accomplishment the feeling of reaching the pinnacle of a hike than deciding you've swam (swum? did swim?) enough laps for the day?
